A Little Help for You

For those guys who are studying Japanese and need some help in your learning and also want to be able to keep track of your progress, keep reading!

I know there are many softwares out in the vast internet, but I personally find this software particularly good and helpful. Of course to use this software effectively, you must have mastered your Hiragana(ひらがな) and Katakana(カタカナ) and also of course have some basic idea about the Japanese language system.

Anyway this software is called Wakan(和漢) and is freely available to download here.

Actually at first I just wanted a programme to help me in the study of the Kanji characters but then I got more then what I am looking for. >.<

Here’s what the programme can do for you. (NOTE: I took all this picture from the website)

Here is the Kanji characters. It is colour coded where black signifies common characters and gray is uncommon characters. I forgot what the other colours mean. >.< And see below all the characters, there is a small section. This section shows you where the particular kanji is used with how it is pronounced and what it means in English. Pretty neat right!

This is the dictionary function. Well the term dictionary explains it all. ^^,

I personally have not used this function before but as you can see, its a translator/editor. And from the looks of it, it is pretty impressive and comphrehensive! And same as before, there is a section below the editor that shows you the meaning of words. Oh just before I forget, you can actually find out the meaning of a word by just simply hovering your cursor onto the word and a window will come out; like the one in the picture above.

Moving on,

This section is the vocabulary section. Here you can select from the category to filter the vocabulary you wish to learn, or if you don’t want, you can import some phrases(which can be downloaded and imported into the programme from the website or through Google-ing) to help you learn some basic phrases to help you in learning the Japanese Language or just to polish up your grammar. All up to you. ^^,

And if you have a printer, you can also print out the practice sheet to practice writing kanji. Afterall practice makes perfect!

And finally, this is the print screen for the translated text. Which again I have never used before but then the translation looked quite accurate and very comphresive!

I hope this helps whoever out there who is trying to learn the Japanese language(including myself ^^,)

The file is not that big also. So you can downloading it and give it a try. If you are not happy, you can just simply uninstall it.

Oh before I forget again, you can keep track of your progress by marking the phrase or words by tags. The tags include UNLEARNED, LEARNED, MASTERED, PROBLEMATIC. The program is really helpful in my opinion.

If you have any other useful software, do drop me a comment. ^^, Good day!
